The Santa Fe Desert Chorale offers a year-round Childrens
Choir program. Currently, 38 children are enrolled. The program
provides an advanced choral experience for talented young singers
from 7 to 14 years of age.
The children study and perform a variety of choral music in the
tradition of American and world composers, both secular and sacred.
The program also encourages the life-long learning and enjoyment
of music by teaching skills that improve choir performance and
personal growth such as melody, harmony, rhythm, reading skills,
vocal tone, choral technique, teamwork, and earned self-esteem.
The program is divided into two different ensembles the
Preparatory Choir for students at the beginning stages of vocal
and musical development, and the Childrens Choir for more
advanced students. Both ensembles will enjoy many opportunities
for performance both in Santa Fe and beyond, as well as opportunities
to perform with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale and, on occasion,
the Santa Fe Opera.
Tuition is $500 or $550 per year per child, depending on the
level. Limited scholarship support is available. Families interested
in auditioning for this program should contact the Desert
Chorale (505)988-2282.
